I would’ve wished

  • don’t rush things into production.
  • dont offer a service to a friend without really knowing and having the experience to keep it up when needed.
  • dont make it your life. The services are there to help you, not to be your life.
  • use docker. Podman is not yet ready for mainstream, in my experience. When the services move to podman officially it’s time to move. Just because jellyfin offers official documentation for it, doesn’t mean it’ll work with podman (my experience)
  • just test all services with the base docker install. If something isn’t working, there may be a bug or two. Report if it is a bug. Hunt a bug down if you can. maybe it’s just something that isn’t documented (well enough) for a beginner.
  • start on your own machine before getting a server. A pi is enough for lightweight stuff but probably not for a fast and smooth experience with e.g. nextcloud.
  • backup.
  • search for help. If not available in a forum. ask for help. Dont waste many many hours if something isnt working. But research it first and read the documentation.

I don’t know the best way but I would use cron and start docker every minute (if it’s not running).

This vulnerability arises from improper handling of batch files with all possible extensions on Windows

This release includes a security update for Node.js. While we don’t think these CVEs affect Immich, we strongly recommend you update. For more details, see https://nodejs.org/en/blog/vulnerability/july-2024-security-releases.

Why would anyone ddos you? Ddos costs money andor effort. Noone is going to waste that on you. Maybe dos but not ddos. And the troll will go away after some time as well. There’s no gain in dosing you. Why would anyone hack your static website? For the lulz? If everything is https encrypted on your local net how does a hacker infest everything on your network?

immich: Does a SSD/HDD make a noticable difference?
I wonder if there is a nptocable difference between a HDD and SSD. Did someone already test it? I run it off a good SSD but wonder if a HDD would be enough.

jtxboard is incredibly powerful, thank you!

what’s your favorite kanban board?
I'm checking out flowly right now. I'm looking for a kanban board that optimally connects with a todo list and calendar, preferably webdav (but no must). what can you guys recommend?

Redesigned. If i have to guess: because it was too much. Too many details, too small.

How to detect problems on computer?
My server (fedora) stops all podman containers after 2-3 hours since 3 days. I can start all containers again, and the same happens after a while. I do not know where to look for the problem. In top, I found a oom message. I assume that the system runs out of memory and stops all services. How can I find the problem? I can’t find anything in the container logs. I can see that systemctl status is always starting. It doesn’t become “running”. But I do not know how to proceed.

nginx proxy manager changes IP. How to get static container IP?
all the containers change IP addresses frequently. For home assistant a static IP address of the proxy manager is mandatory in order to reach it. For jellyfin it is useful to see which device accesses jellyfin. If the IP always changes, it doesn't work properly. How do I fix a container IP with podman compose (or docker)

Both is still work in progress. Matrix call for video calls and immuch for photos.

Radarr has no multi language function. Use separate radarr instances for different languages.

Jellyfin can’t do that, afaik.

You have to manually edit each video.

I don’t watch spanish content but there are a lot of spanish speaking people on this planet.

Are you sure that there is no release and you are the first who wants to tackle this?

Wanted to ask this. Is it difficult to implement activity pub? That would be awesome. It looks beautiful

Not that I’m aware of. I can’t find anything in the settings either

Edit: yes it adds an icon.

Prowlarr returns `There was an error loading this page` when I click on an app and other sites. When I disable proton pass, it works as usual. thx. docker-tc as suggested below does probably this. I’d like to prioritize, not only limiting.

How to prioritize a container with regards to internet speed
### Internet speed prioritization in containers How can I prioritize a container with regards to internet speed? Let's assume I've got two podman (docker) containers and both upload stuff. ### Reasoning My upload bandwidth is limited. One container needs to reliably upload stuff and the other doesn't. Thus, I want to prioritize one container over the over in order to deliver content in this container reliably. ### Example Syncthing can sync over a long time period but jellyfin can't.

They aren’t mutually exclusive. They work together. I recommend zerotier over tailscale (I forgot why tailscale was bad for me, sorry)

I’ve been using it since a couple of weeks. I barely use it, I uploaded a lot of documents. It is very time consuming to tag every uploaded old document. It works great! But batch commands are missing and the mobile app isn’t on par with the web version.

Moreover, OSS document scanner and pdf doc scan are great. I’d love to use paperless but I’m not sure if it’s the best solution right now.

which dynamic dns hoster?
I've been using duckdns for a few years and I was happy until today. It is not working and I want a backup. Which do you recommend?
